	Karim Patwa was born 1968 in London. Early 70’s Patwa moves to Switzerland with his parents, where he grows up in Biel. After solving an apprenticeship as an electronic technician, he begins, 1993 studies at film-school in Lucerne. During his studies, he starts to develop a very personal and comical way of story telling in moving images, combining all kind of different techniques; short films, animation, documentary films... After his diploma in 1996, Karim Patwa directs several music videos and two short films, receiving rewards and great attention in and outside of Switzerland. In 1999 Patwa starts practical training as assistant on the film “Gambling, Gods and LSD” by Peter Mettler. 2001 he goes to Berlin to write on a script for a middle length feature film which later is produced by the renowned Swiss producer Samir. The Film is called “karim patwa’s space ship”. Three years later the Film is released in cinemas and shown at festivals all around Europe. “karim patwa’s spaceship” is an almost autobiographical summery of finding ones roots and family affairs, on earth and in outer space. The film moves in and out of fiction, animation and documentary film. Heavily influenced by his multicultural background Karim Patwa’s films reflect on a mood of alienation, seeking to be integrated in society and finding ones place, without falling into the trap of everyday mondainety and ordered life. His personal vision and imagination strengthened by the use of different media regularly found in his films, lift Patwa’s moving images onto a platform for unlimiting visual expression and fantastic story telling. Besides working on classical films, Karim Patwa started exploring the possibilities in TV spots, 2004 he directs his first commercial film. 2007 he directs his third short feature Film "the chronomaniacs". Karims films has been screened on festivals and been shown on TV. He is now working on his first long feature film "the doppelgänger".
